Supporters’ meeting 23rd June Livermead House Hotel

Thanks to everyone who, despite the hot weather, attended yesterday’s meeting and presentation by Allie Poyner and Julie Eason from the Lodge cancer support unit in Torquay who took us through a mindfulness and wellbeing session.

Allie gave a short presentation introducing mindfulness, encouraging curiosity around the practice, and facilitating some grounding exercises, including the 5-4-3-2-1 sensory technique using sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste.

Julie focused on the benefits of wellbeing following treatment and surgery, with the aim of providing attendees with additional support, information, and practical strategies to aid recovery and emotional wellbeing.

It obviously went down well, judging by the number of questions being posed, and the number of people crowded around their table, checking out their handouts.

Either that, or folks were after the crayons and bubbles!
