26 Sep Latest PSA Testing Event 23rd September
Last Wednesday TPSA carried out their latest PSA testing event at the Livermead House Hotel in Torquay, an event which had been fully booked at least a week in advance, with all 390 slots allocated.
This event offered men the chance to access the important PSA test, which local GP surgeries are reluctant to offer patients.
“It was another successful event” said TPSA Chairman Ian Nightingale. “Although unfortunately on the night we had 20 no shows, meaning that 20 men who were unable to book a place, were denied the opportunity of a test.”
“At a time when the Government has, despite a review, recently refused to introduce a National Prostate Cancer screening programme, events such as run by TPSA are increasingly important. ”
“We now await to here back from the testing team, as regards the results from the evening. ”
Held in collaboration with the Graham Fulford Trust and the Rotary Club of Preston (Torbay), each event costs around £12,000 to run, with each test costing around £30 to sample and process. These are free events, but we do ask for donations.
The first of 2 similar events for 2027, will be take place in Spring, with a second in the autumn.
