We hope that this meeting will be of general interest and would welcome any friends, relatives of whatever age, if they wish to accompany you to this meeting. The more the merrier!
At the last members meeting we were delighted to have a talk by Dr Anna Lydon who
has been the Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Torbay Hospital since 1999. Most of
her time is spent looking after men diagnosed with prostate cancer. In agreeing
to speak to us she said “Over those years I have been privileged to be involved with
the TPSA since its foundation, and have seen first-
She outlined the pioneering work that she & her colleagues have been involved in over the years in Torbay & Exeter Hospitals and thanked TPSA for their donation of equipment over the years which runs into £100’s of pounds, without which this work would not have be
Enpossible.
She reflected on how prostate cancer treatments have evolved during her time at Torbay Hospital, and wanted to hear members’ thoughts on how the service could evolve going forward. Although she is retiring at the end of April, we were delighted to learn that she will continue working heading up a research team looking at future trials in treating cancers including Prostate Cancer.
Generous Donation received from the RAOB (The Royal Ancient Order of Buffalo’s) RAOB Ye Olde Roundham Club, New Street, Paignton, TQ3 3HL
We were delighted to receive a cheque from the RAOB for £3,529.75 which was collected during the pandemic which is a staggering amount in such difficult circumstances. This will enable TPSA to continue their work in raising awareness of this dreadful disease and supporting men and their families.
I thought you might be interested in some of the headline statistics around Prostate
